How It Happened
Growing up on the West Coast I was introduced to the flowers of the English woodlands and gardens by my grandmother's game of “Botanical Lotto”. I learned the names of plants as I sought to be the first to fill all the circles on my card.
Now, 70 years later I've created Botanical Bingo and the Botanical Playing Cards which each showcase native New Zealand flora.
Local artist, Erin Forsyth was engaged to paint the plants.
The Playing Cards feature two plants, and the 48 numbered cards in the Bingo game each display a different plant with their te reo Maori, common, and botanical names.
Counters in their own cotton bag and a booklet are included.
The enclosed booklet gives botanical information and trivia about each plant thus enriching the learning and complexity to the game.
I hope you enjoy playing these games and learning about our beautiful native plants.
